– Ice Cream Extravaganza – Mark your calendars for Sunday, August 30th for the annual Ice Cream Extravaganza! Don’t miss this end of summer outside event with great food and fun. Homemade ice cream makers please bring your best creation! Everyone else bring a side dish and/or a dessert to go with the ice cream. Grilled hotdogs, buns and beverages provided. There will also be yard games for all and a WATER INFLATABLE SLIDE for the kids. Gather at 5:00 PM rain or shine. Kids come any time after 4:00 PM for the water slide. Everyone grab your lawn chair and bring a friend/neighbor. So that we don’t duplicate ice cream or sides, there is a sign-up sheet for food at the Welcome Center. This event is sponsored by our Women’s Ministry Team. If you are willing to assist please contact Elizabeth Williams or indicate on the sign-up sheet.
– Make a Difference in a Child’s Life! Please consider being a mentor for an elementary child at South River Elementary in Grottoes. Once a week (and it’s okay to miss occasionally) you would meet with a child. Play a game. Eat lunch with them. Do a craft. Read a book or listen to them read to you! Activities and materials provided. Age of the child is up to you. In those 30-45 minutes you can truly affect a child’s life as they look forward to spending time with a special adult who gives them their full attention! You cannot imagine how excited these kids get to see their mentor. Several Bethany folks have participated. Talk to Amy Michael or Jerry Sheets. If you have questions, are curious, or feel your heart being tugged on to be a mentor please talk to Jackie Dunsmore. Mentorships won’t start until late September.
– Bethany has the Weyers Cave Community Center reserved for Sunday, October 25th for Trunk or Treat. If you are interested in working with a team to organize and coordinate this event, please sign up at the Welcome Center. Once we have a team formed, a meeting date will be scheduled.
– “Be a Blessing” – If you have “blessings” that you are wanting to share (not sell) with others please let the office know. These will be listed in the Happenings with details you provide. Examples of “blessings” could be extra vegetables from your garden, flower/shrubs/plants that you want to remove or thin out, scrap material, extra art supplies, etc.
